REFLECTION:
Philippine government requires students to have on-the-job training (OJT) before graduation and eventually
before taking licensure or board exams. The purpose of this program is to introduce students to their respective
professions and experience the nature and demands of the work. It dawned on me that what Jesus did to his apostles
inspired this practice. The apostles’ training was to be with Jesus; to learn from him, to interiorize his teaching
before being sent to preach and drive out demons. This is also the norm in the formation of priests and religious before
being sent to mission. However, this formation and mission is for all baptized Christians. By virtue of our baptism,
we are all called to be Jesus’ disciples, to follow his way of life and become witnesses of his love for the world.
