“Therefore, anyone who hears these words of mine, and acts according to them, is like a wise man,
who built his house on rock. The rain poured down, the rivers flooded, and the wind blew and struck
that house. But it did not collapse, because it was built on rock. But anyone who hears these words
of mine, and does not act accordingly, is like a fool who built his house on sand. The rain poured, the
rivers flooded, and the wind blew and struck that house; it collapsed, and what a terrible collapse that
was!”
Reflect:
Knowing God’s Will is no easy work. There are three things we can do: (1) Have the deepest desire to
do God’s Will; (2) Do the very best to discern through prayer and spiritual consultation; (3) Surrender
totally into God’s hands. The prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola, a great master in discernment of spirits,
can aid us: “Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,/ my memory, my understanding/ and my entire will
,/ all that I have and call my own./ You have given it all to me./ To you, Lord, I return it./ Everything is
yours; do with it what you will./ Give me only your love and your grace, / That is enough for me.”
